Official data sources
Every color is pulled from the manufacturer's own catalog. And where the sources genuinely disagree, like RLM 81 drifting over the course of the war, we keep the variants instead of flattening them into one arbitrary value.
The way your eyes see it
We measure color difference as distance in OKLAB, a space built to track how humans actually see. A close score means the colors genuinely look close, not just that their numbers line up.
